The past years’ uncertainties and pressures resulted from the pandemic, alongside new developments in social technology, 5G, cloud computing, augmented and virtual reality, generated the perfect setting for the metaverse to gain traction. Several companies found there’s a critical need to redefine the work environment and started exploring the metaverse concept beyond the entertainment sector. Thus, new tools for collaboration and data visualization within a digital shared space are being created, aiming for a fully immersive interaction between the virtual and the physical worlds within the next few years. While still in its early developments, the metaverse can be seen as an extension of the social media platforms, and an opportunity to leverage remote work even further.

ICESS 2022 provides a space for all those interested in Economics and Social Sciences to discuss and exchange research ideas in the light of the work environment, business model, and technological changes driven by COVID-19. We welcome both empirical and theoretical work that is broadly consistent with the conference’s general theme. Researchers, PhD students and practitioners are invited to submit papers on the topics related to fostering recovery through metaverse business modelling, such as, data science and digitalization, frameworks, regulations, digital fatigue, marketing, finance etc. that will help develop innovative instruments for countries, businesses and education to recover and adapt.

On June 25, 2019, the Sixth Eastern Partnership Business Forum will be held, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Business Environment.
Government officials and business representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as from EU member states will participate in this event.

The first part of the event includes an opening session and two panels on the IT industry and e-commerce, while the afternoon session will be dedicated to B2B and B2G meetings.

This event will seek to promote bilateral and multilateral economic ties between EU countries and the six Eastern Partnership countries.

The conference addressed Romanian companies in order to highlight the investment needs of Syria’s post-conflict reconstruction process. Representatives of accredited diplomatic missions in Romania, representatives of civil society and academics were also present at the event.

The initiator of this conference was Alpha Com International, which was directly involved in organizing the event. The initiative also joined the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Romania, as well as a significant number of Romanian and Syrian businessmen from our country.

Lately, significant changes have been made to the situation in Syria, and since the second half of 2018, several reconstruction projects have been launched, covering different areas of activity, from local infrastructure to areas such as construction, agriculture, health , education, transport and energy.

According to UN analyzes and predictions, Reconstruction of Syria will cost at least 250 billion USD. Instead, the al-ASSAD government estimated approximately 400 billion USD, and the operations will last for about 15 years.

With a lot of participation from the Romanian business environment, the conference focused on topics of interest in identifying priority investment projects as well as the investment potential of the participating companies.

By initiating and organizing this conference, as well as by further steps, Alpha Com International has positioned itself as a binder between business and investment opportunities in the Syrian Arab Republic, on the one hand, and Romanian companies, on the other, which want to be involved in the post-conflict reconstruction process in Syria.
